ACCUWEATHER BRAND EVOLUTION
In 2013, the AccuWeather brand was updated for the first time in 20 years and a simplified, human-based design language was developed. This "lifestyle" approach was successful and helped to move the brand into the media category. In order to remain relevant amongst competitors, a second brand audit was conducted in 2018. This process identified the need to combine scientific details in conjunction with the "lifestyle" approach. The team has worked to infuse science and lifestyle into the brand, which has resulted in a sophisticated experience that positions AccuWeather as a leader in the weather forecasting industry. To build a more ownable brand system, the custom typeface, Solis was created, sonic branding synced to an animated logo was developed, a proprietary weather icon system was drawn, and a new color palette based off of radar was embraced. AccuWeather is now a brand that competes on a global scale.
